What to Expect

First things first...

When you get in touch with me, I will arrange a short introductory telephone call.  The call allows you the opportunity to decide whether you are comfortable talking to me.  Counsellors have different personalities and different ways of working and it is vital that you find someone you can relate to with ease and feel able to trust absolutely.

This call will also allow me to make sure that I am the best person to help you or, alternatively, whether another practitioner who works in a different way might be more helpful. If so, I can offer a referral or give details of how to contact a more appropriate organisation.

At the end of this call, if you wish to proceed, we will arrange your first appointment.

Counselling sessions:

During the first session we will identify what you would like to work on.  I will then suggest a number of sessions to begin with...this will vary according to the reason you have come.  We will also come to an agreement about the business arrangement between us.

Sessions last for 60 minutes each and take place in a warm, comfortable and peaceful setting.  As well as talking, some clients find it useful to use objects or pictures to facilitate exploring their feelings; we would only follow this path if you felt comfortable in doing so.
