About Me

From Nursing to Counselling...

My background is twenty five years as a nurse in a wide variety of fields including critical care, caring for those who were nearing the end of their lives and care of children.  During that time it became clear to me that there is a close connection between body and mind that is fundamental to the unique experience of each individual. I observed frequently that I could make a real difference to my patients by listening to their worries and concerns and that often this had a positive effect that was at least as beneficial as the physical care they received.  I was drawn to my counselling training by this realisation.

My Counselling Training...

I began my counselling training by working for Cruse Bereavement Care and other voluntary organisations while studying for an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).  Since graduating from this course in 2009, I have taken part in continuous professional and personal development in line with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice and I am to be found on their register of practitioners. In 2015 I attended courses for Couples' Counselling and Supervision for other Counsellors.
